It was while serving in the Air Corps during WWI
that William Brand Beard met his wife, Victoria, in Scotland. After returning stateside and having a family
of their own, they decided to build their dream home here in the style they
fell in love with while touring the English countryside – pitched gables,
exposed brick and mortar, delicate lead glass windows and rough hewn
beams. Fortunately, the current Owner’s
have been vigilant in their preservation of that original character while
tastefully updating it as well. The new
kitchen is their masterpiece with hand crafted period true cabinetry, custom
stainless counter tops with tile backsplash, and high end stainless appliances. They have loved their tenure here and hope
the same for a very fortunate Buyer.
As it true of quality architecture, the design is
both beautiful and functional. The large
four bedroom and three bath floor plan of over 3,300sf radiates from the formal
entry in a very logical manner with three bedrooms and two baths upstairs, a guest
suite downstairs, and a family room just off the kitchen and overlooking the
rear yard. The master bedroom is a true
master suite with its own walk-in closet and a large master bath. Both the
living and dining rooms are formal with hardwood floors, original casement
windows, and wood beamed ceilings. There
are gorgeous original fireplaces in both the living room and the den/home
office.
Both the front and rear yards have mature trees and
pampered gardens. The rear grounds
afford outdoor entertaining in a peaceful setting under mature oaks with a pool
and spa. There are also some details
worth mentioning: three zone central
air and heating, the separate laundry room, so much original wood moldings and
trim, a detached two car garage with studio, and close proximity to the Oakmont
Country Club.
